This article explains how gamification works in Evotix Learn (the Evotix training content delivery platform) and how the three gamification features — Points, the Leaderboard, and Awards (also referred to as Badges) — work together to encourage learners to return to the app regularly, complete training, and refresh their knowledge. Users earn points each time they complete a Stage (the individual piece of learning content within a Mission) for the first time. Points contribute to two leaderboard views: a monthly leaderboard that resets at the start of each month, and an all-time overall leaderboard. Users also earn awards each time they complete a Mission (a collection of Stages grouped by topic), which are displayed on their dashboard. This article applies to the Evotix Learn platform only and does not require any configuration in Assure.
Prerequisites
- An active Evotix Learn user account with access to the platform via the Learn app or web browser.
- At least one Mission or Stage must be assigned or available to the user for points and awards to be earned.
- To configure the number of points awarded per Stage: Learn Administrator or Content Administrator access to the Learn back-end admin interface, and the relevant Stage must already exist.
- To manage Leaderboard visibility at a site or user level: Learn Administrator access to the Admin Area > Access Control settings.
Gamification in Evotix Learn: Points, Leaderboard, and Awards
Points
Configurable Stage Points
- Article Stages
- Audio Visual Stages
- PDF Stages
Fixed Stage Points
- Quiz Stages award 10 points for each correct answer on the learner's first successful attempt.
- SCORM Stages award 10 points when first completed.
The Leaderboard
| View | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Monthly | Resets on the first day of each month, returning all user scores to zero. This reset encourages users to return to the app and compete again from an equal starting point. |
| Overall | An all-time view that does not reset. The Overall Leaderboard shows the total points each user has accumulated since they first started using the app. |
Awards
How Awards Work
- Awards are assigned to each Mission and serve as a visual record of what the learner has achieved.
- Earned awards are highlighted in the full list of all available awards. Unearned awardsremain visible but appear greyed out, so learners can see what they are working towards.
- The four most recently earned awards are shown as a preview on the dashboard.
- Users can view the complete list of all available awards by clicking the View all button at the top right of the awards section.
Earning an Award More Than Once
- First time earned: the award turns from grey to green
- Earned again: a number appears on the award showing the total number of times the learner has earned it.
