This article explains how a Content Administrator or Learn Administrator creates an Award (a gamification feature in Evotix Learn that recognises a learner's completion of a Mission) and links it to a Mission in the Learn Admin Area. Awards are assigned to each Mission and serve as a visual record of what the learner has achieved. The workflow covers creating a new Award, selecting an icon, publishing the Award, and linking the Award to a Mission using the Mission Award Links section. This workflow is scoped entirely within Evotix Learn and does not require any configuration in Assure.
Set up Awards in Learn to recognise achievement, celebrate progress, and motivate learners through personalised milestones.
Prerequisites
- Administrator or Content Administrator access to the Learn Admin Area
- At least one published Mission (a collection of Stages grouped by topic) to link the Award to
What Are Awards?
Awards (previously referred to as Badges) are assigned to each Mission and serve as a visual record of what the learner has achieved. In addition to points, users earn an award each time they complete a Mission on their learning pathway. Awards are displayed on the user's dashboard and indicate the skills the learner has developed through the app.Earned awards are highlighted in the full list of all available awards. Unearned awards remain visible but appear greyed out, so learners can see what they are working towards. The four most recently earned awards are shown as a preview on the dashboard. Users can view the complete list of all available awards by clicking the View all button at the top right of the awards section. Each award can be earned more than once:
- First time earned: the award turns from grey to green
- Earned again: a number appears on the award showing the total number of times the learner has earned it.
Note: Awards were previously called Badges in Evotix Learn. The feature and functionality are unchanged — only the name has been updated. Any references to "badges" in older documentation or training materials refer to the same feature.
Steps
Step 1: Create a New Award
- In the Learn Admin Area, navigate to the left-hand menu and select Awards.
- Click Add New. The Learn Admin Area opens a blank Award creation screen.
- Enter a title for the Award — for example, "Health and Safety in the Workplace".
- Select an icon for the Award. A set of predefined icons is available to choose from — for example, an alert diamond.
- Click Save Draft to save the Award.
Note: Previewing the Award is not available before saving. Once the draft is saved, the Award can be published.
- Click Publish to make the Award available for linking to Missions.
Step 2: Link the Award to a Mission
Once the Award is published, it must be linked to a specific Mission. Learners earn the Award when they complete that Mission.
- In the Learn Admin Area, navigate to the left-hand menu and select Missions.
- Open the Missions table to view all available Missions.
- Select the Mission to which the Award should be linked — for example, "Slips, Trips and Falls".
- Within the Mission admin page, navigate to the Mission Award Links section.
- Use the search field to search for the Award by name — for example, "Health and Safety in the Workplace".
- Select the Award from the search results. The system associates the Award with the Mission.
- Click Save or Update to apply the change.
Expected result: Upon a learner completing the linked Mission, the Award will be displayed in the learner's Awards table.
How the Award Appears to Learners
Once the Award is published and linked to a Mission, it is automatically listed among the available awards that learners can earn. The Award is only presented to learners who have the Mission assigned to them.
Earned awards are highlighted in the full list of all available awards. Unearned awards remain visible but appear greyed out, so learners can see what they are working towards.
Notes and Warnings
- Awards must be published before they can be linked to a Mission. A draft Award will not appear in the Mission Award Links search results.
- One Award can be linked to multiple Missions. If the same Award is relevant to more than one Mission, repeat Step 2 for each Mission.
- A Mission can have multiple Awards linked to it. Each Award linked to a Mission is earned independently upon Mission completion.
- Awards are earned on Mission completion, not Stage completion. Learners must complete all required Stages within a Mission to earn the linked Award.
- The Mission must be assigned to the learner for the Award to appear in their available awards list. Publishing the Award alone does not make it visible to learners who are not assigned to the Mission.
