The System Log (an audit trail within Assure that records all user activity across the platform) allows administrators to monitor who has logged in and out of Assure and what actions users have performed, such as creating Incident Records, editing Risk Assessment records, and other module-level activities. Filters can be applied within the System Log to narrow results to specific events, using the same filter mechanism available throughout Assure modules. Access to the System Log is controlled by the View System Logs Supervisor Privilege (a permission that governs whether a user can view the System Log from within Assure's System Configuration area).
The System Log records all activity that takes place within Assure. The System Log captures:
- Login and logout events; which users have accessed Assure and when.
- User activity events; actions performed by users, such as creating an Incident Record, editing a Risk Assessment record, or making changes to other module records.
Administrators use the System Log to monitor user behaviour, support compliance investigations, and audit activity across the platform.
Access requirement: To view the System Log, the View System Logs Supervisor Privilege must be set to Allow on the user's Supervisor Privilege profile. If the option does not appear in System Configuration, contact the Assure Administrator to confirm this permission is enabled.
Accessing the System Log
The System Log is located within the System Configuration area of Assure's Settings menu.
Filtering the System Log
Filters can be applied within the System Log to search for specific events. The filter mechanism in the System Log functions identically to the filter functionality available in Assure's module list views.
To apply a filter:
Navigate to the System Log.
Open the filter panel.
Select the relevant filter criteria.
Apply the filter.
Once applied, the System Log displays only the results that match the specified filter criteria.
Available Filter Criteria
The System Log supports filtering based on a range of criteria. The filter fields available are displayed in the filter panel within the System Log view.
For full guidance on creating and managing filters within Assure, refer to the Creating a Filter article.
Notes
- The System Log records all activity across Assure modules. Activity from any module -- including Incident Records, Risk Assessments, and other module records -- appears in the System Log.
- The System Log is also referenced when viewing Workflow Rules Log entries, as users with View System Logs permission can see the full audit history of executed Workflow Rules.
- Bulk record operations (such as Bulk Copy) are also captured in the System Log, including the user who performed the operation and the records created.

Relevant modules and cross-module implications: The System Log is a system-wide feature within Assure's System Configuration area. It captures activity from all Assure modules (Incident Record, Risk Assessment, Audit, Equipment Register, etc.). There are no specific cross-module workflow implications; the System Log operates as a read-only view of all platform-level activity. The Workflow Rules Log is a related but separate log accessible to users with either Manage Workflow Rules or View System Logs permission.
