Evotix Learn (the Evotix training and learning platform) is designed to be used by all audiences, in any country and in any language, and as such all content in the app can be translated to ensure end users view content in their native language. After creating content in the app in its default language, content can then be translated. Depending on the content type, translations are applied in one of two ways: Per-block translations or Page-wide translations. This article explains both translation methods, which content types each applies to, and how the Learn app determines which language to display to a learner.
A guide to translating content within the Learn platform. This video covers how to enable translations, manage different language versions, and maintain consistency across materials.
You can watch this video for an overview to learn about this topic or keep reading the article below.
Prerequisites
- Administrator or Content Administrator access to the Learn admin area.
- Content must already exist in its default language before translations can be applied.
- To add additional language options beyond the default, contact your System Administrator. The System Administrator adds languages by following the steps in the Global Languages configuration.
Translation Method Overview
| Translation Method | Applies To |
|---|---|
| Per-block | Article Stages, Audio Visual (AV) Stages, PDF Stages, Resources |
| Page-wide | Quiz Stages, SCORM Stages, Missions, Levels, Pathways, Notifications |
Per-Block Translations
How to Add a Per-Block Translation
1. Open the Stage or Resource in the Learn admin area.
2. Locate the block to translate.
3. Click the language button in the block's toolbar.
4. Select the target language from the list.
5. The block saves existing content as the English version and clears the field.
6. Enter the translated content for the selected language.
7. Repeat for each block that requires translation.
8. Click Publish to save and publish changes.
Page-Wide Translations
How to Add a Page-Wide Translation
- The original English title is visible at the top of the page.
- Once the language is changed, the field empties and shows a greyed out version of the English content.
- The translated text is entered in the field to appear when a learner uses a device set to that language.
1. Open the content item (for example, a Mission or Quiz Stage) in the Learn admin area.
2. Locate the Language section in the publication panel at the top right of the page.
3. Select the target language from the dropdown.
4. The page refreshes and shows all fields with existing content greyed out.
5. Enter translations into each field.
6. Click Publish (or Update) to save the translations.
How the App Applies Translations to Learners
Important Notes
- The default language is English. All blocks default to English until a translation is added. Content creators should always ensure the default language version is complete and accurate, as it serves as the fallback for all unsupported languages.
- Language availability is controlled by System Administrators. If a required language is not visible in the language button dropdown, contact your System Administrator to enable the language via Global Languages configuration.
Per-block and page-wide translation methods are distinct. The correct method is determined by content type. Using the wrong method (for example, attempting per-block translation on a Quiz Stage) will not be available as Quiz Stages only support page-wide translation.
