This article explains how a Content Administrator or Learn Administrator creates and publishes a Resource (a non-scored, non-mandatory reference material that learners can access at any time from the Learn App) in Evotix Learn (the Evotix training and learning platform). The workflow covers navigating to the Resources section in the Learn Admin Area, entering a title and excerpt, building body content using the Block Editor (the content creation tool used to build Stages and Resources in Learn), uploading a PDF using the PDF block and making the PDF available as a downloadable file using the File block, saving a draft, previewing the Resource, categorising the Resource, and publishing. Once published, the Resource appears in the Learn App accessible from the main menu. This workflow is scoped entirely within Evotix Learn and does not require any configuration in Assure.
This video explains how to add supplementary resource materials to training modules. It covers file uploads, linking resources, and ensuring accessibility for learners.

Prerequisites
- Administrator or Content Administrator access to the Learn Admin Area
-
Content to be uploaded (for example, a PDF file ready for upload)
What is a Resource?
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Navigate to Resources and Create a New Resource
- In the Learn Admin Area, locate the left-hand menu and select Resources.
- Click Add New. The Learn Admin Area opens a new Resource page.
- Enter a title for the Resource at the top of the page.
- Enter a brief excerpt (description of the supplementary learning content) below the title.
Step 2: Add Body Content Using the Block Editor
About the Media Section and File Uploads
- Upload directly within the Block Editor: When adding a block that requires a file (such as a File block or PDF block), administrators can upload a file from their local device at the point of adding the block. The file is automatically saved to the Media section and can be reused in other Resources or Stages.
- Upload via the Media section in advance: Navigate to Media in the left-hand menu of the Learn Admin Area, click Add New, and upload the file before building the Resource. The file is then available to select when adding blocks.
Adding Blocks to the Resource Body
- Click the'+' button in the top-left corner of the admin page
- Click the'+' button at the left or right end of a blank block row
- Press'/' when a blank block is active
- Open the Block Editor by clicking the'+' button or pressing'/' in a blank block.
- Select Browse All to view all available block types.
- Navigate to the PDF block option and select it. The PDF block embeds the document inline within the Resource body, allowing learners to view the document page by page.
- To also provide the PDF as a downloadable file, add a separate File block to the Resource body. The File block adds downloadable files to the Stage or Resource body. Learners can open and download files to their device.
- In the File block, select the PDF file from the Media Library or upload the file by browsing from the local device.
- Once the file upload is complete, the Resource body will contain two distinct sections: the embedded PDF viewer block and the downloadable file block.
Step 3: Save Draft and Preview
- Click Save Draft in the top-right area of the admin page to save progress without publishing.
- Click Preview to open a preview of the Resource in a separate screen, displaying how the Resource will appear to learners in the Learn App.
- The embedded PDF displays inline. Use the controls at the bottom of the PDF viewer to:
- Zoom in and out of the document
- Navigate between pages using the arrow controls
- Select the Full Screen option to view the PDF as a standard full-screen document. To exit full screen, close the tab at the top.
- To download the document, click the download button. The download option appears on the right-hand side of the screen.
Step 4: Categorise the Resource
- In the Resource admin page, locate the Categories panel on the right side of the screen.
- Tick the checkbox next to each category the Resource should be assigned to.
- A Resource can be assigned to multiple categories.
- The Resource will appear under each selected category in the Learn App.
- Click Save or Update to apply the category assignment.
Step 5: Publish the Resource
- Click Publish in the top-right corner of the Resource admin page.
- The Resource is now live in the Learn App and accessible to learners from the Resources section in the main menu.
How the Resource Appears to Learners
- The embedded PDF viewer displays the document inline. Learners can zoom in and out, navigate pages using arrow controls, and view the document in full screen.
- The downloadable File block allows learners to download the PDF to their device directly from the Resource.
Notes and Warnings
- Resources are non-scoring. Resources are non-scoring and non-essential reference materials. They are not tracked for completion or compliance. If tracking or scoring is required, add the content as a Stage within a Mission instead.
- Categorisation is required. A Resource will not display correctly in the learner interface unless at least one category has been assigned and the Resource is published.
- Per-block translations are supported. Resources use per-block translations. To add translated content, use the language button within each individual block's toolbar in the Block Editor. This differs from Quiz Stages and SCORM Stages, which use page-wide translations.
- Block order can be rearranged. Administrators can drag and reorder blocks on the admin page before publishing to adjust content layout.
- Multiple categories. A Resource can be assigned to as many categories as applicable. The Resource will appear under each selected category in the learner interface.
