Create a Quiz stage

Create a Quiz stage

Quizzes are the main way of assessing users in Learn and have been designed to be simple and easy not only to complete on the front end, but also quick to create in the back end.

COMPLETING A QUIZ AS A LEARNER

 

When working their way through a quiz, users will see the following screens:

• The introduction screen showing the number of questions in the quiz and the pass mark needed;
• The questions themselves, which come in one of two forms:
  • Multiple choice questions - select the correct answers to a question and submit them;
  • Reordering questions - rearrange the provided answers into the correct order and submit the final order;
• The completion screen once all questions have been answered, showing whether or not they passed the quiz

Between each quiz question, users are shown a "Correct" or "Incorrect" popup, saying whether their answer was correct or not, and optional feedback added by the admin when creating the quiz:

 

 

 

Quiz stages display the following on the front end:

• A custom quiz with different question types
• A featured image (stage card only)

To complete a quiz stage users must answer all questions and correctly answer enough to reach the pass mark.

CREATE A QUIZ STAGE

In the back end click Add new under Quiz Stages

1. Add the title of the stage
2. Add a featured image in the Featured Media tab
3. Set the Interest categories of the stage
4. Configure the stage to set whether it's locked and the pass mark needed to complete it
5. Create the quiz using the Quiz Builder
   • See the next section for instructions on how to use the Quiz Builder
6. Click the Publish button in the top right of the page

 

Quiz builder

The Quiz builder is a tool built into the quiz stage admin page specifically to make it quicker and easier to create varied quizzes that ask flexible questions to properly assess subject knowledge.

The quiz builder supports two types of question:

• Multiple choice - choose the right answer(s) to the question
• Reordering - rearrange the list of answers into the correct order

The questions can be added in the Builder by clicking the relevant button at the bottom of the window:

 

 

The multiple-choice question builder is made up of the following sections:

1. The question
2. Delete question button
3. Answer options
4. Correct answer selector
   • Tick each answer that is correct, for this question users will have to select answers one and four to get the question correct
5. Delete answer button
6. Add answer option button
   • You can also add another answer option by pressing return on the existing bottom answer option
7. Correct answer feedback field
8. Incorrect answer feedback field

In multiple-choice questions, the answer order will randomize when the user accesses the question.

 

 

 

The reordering question builder is made up of the following sections:

   • In reordering questions, answer options need to be added in the correct order for the answer
